DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
20 mins
Fill a small, deep saucepan at least 3/4 full with water and place on electric stove or wood stove out of reach of children and animals. Add pieces from your Simmering Spices mix, including a cinnamon stick, "Melting Heart" or "Spice Bomb" and several of the other ingredients and bring to a quick boil. Reduce heat to a medium-low or low. Simmer for several minutes and turn off the heat source to provide a subtle burst of spiciness to your kitchen.
You can also continue simmering, with supervision, uncovered and on a low boil, adding more water as needed, to create a more intense, lasting aromatic experience.
To continue simmering, please follow these directions:
Ensure contents are always covered in water. Never allow liquid to simmer right down.
Maintain water level at a minimum 3/4 full but not to the top of the saucepan.
Add water to the mixture, about 1 to 1 1/2 cups every hour, depending on the width of the saucepan and the heat source. Check frequently to ensure contents are always covered with liquid. As the moisture evaporates, the mixture will become thick and will burn if left too long.
Add a "Spice Bomb" or "Melting Heart" and a few other pieces from the ingredients, plus an extra 1/2 cup of cold water to refresh the batch after a few hours of simmering. Bring refreshed batch to a quick boil and reduce heat back to simmer.
Stir heated mixture occasionally with the reusable wooden stick provided. Never leave the stick in the mixture while it's on a heat source.
When using Simmering Spices, set a timer on the stove or your personal phone or watch at approximately 20 minute intervals as a reminder to check frequently and to add more water as needed or to turn off the stove.
