Learn from mistakes. That's my advice. As easy as these cinnamon ornaments are as a crafting project, things can go wrong. I have a six-foot misfit tree chock-full of experiments, failures and lessons learned over the years, including several creations that have been pieced back together, all of them too endearing to be discarded, token reminders of what not to do.
While there is ample information on the internet on how to make cinnamon ornaments, when you join "a cinnamon girl" you'll receive instructions based on my own experience to help spare you mistakes - plus a new spin on this traditional craft project. Once you know the basics, you can experiment with your own ideas as you create beautiful hand-made cinnamon ornaments.
If you're interested in making the time and effort, give it a try. This is a relatively easy and affordable project that can be enjoyed by all ages and done at home.
Whether you're making ornaments for yourself, your family, your friends, general gift giving or as a purchase with purpose for a local cause, the process is simple and the outcome is rewarding - a spicy, sweet-scented, long-lasting, hand-made ornament with rustic charm.
The most critical components required for this project are time, patience & space for two cookie sheets for a couple of days.
You'll need a rolling pin, two cookie sheets and a stainless or non-stick mixing bowl, all of which you may already have or can be purchased at most grocery and discount stores.
As "a cinnamon girl" member, you'll receive a basic kit to get you started that includes step-by-step instructions and the ingredients and art supplies you need to create at least a dozen hanging cinnamon ornaments from start to finish.
If you don't already have a shape you want to use, we also offer a small selection of metal cut-outs for an additional charge as well as other supplies so you can customize your designs.
Members are invited to #jointheinitiative and create ornaments dedicated to a non-profit they support and send in pictures of their final product so we can share them on our website and our Facebook/Meta page to further promote the causes.
