While they may look a bit like cookies and continue to have an enticing tinge of spicy sweet cinnamon scent, our ornaments and decorations are non-edible.

With over 50 designs, these vintage-inspired, long-lasting, hand-crafted pieces come in an assortment of shapes and animals and even include a few different dog breeds. We've taken our appreciation for cinnamon one step further by putting it to work using shapes as symbols to create poignant dedicated pieces for several non-profit organizations to help support their causes.

Cinnamon is a popular spice used worldwide. It is peeled from the inner bark of the aromatic Cinnamomum tree, varieties of which grow in tropics and subtropics throughout the world.

Cinnamon was one of the first traded spices in the world, equal in value to ivory and gold during ancient times, making it a gift worthy of presenting to monarchs and gods.

Cinnamon is the second most popular spice in the United States and Europe, after pepper. It's produced in curled sticks, flakes, extract, oil and ground form. The flower buds are also cultivated.

​

Ingesting ground cinnamon alone can create serious health dangers, including choking and damage to the liver and lungs.

However, cinnamon is a safe and flavorful addition to foods and beverages and is said to have medicinal qualities, including as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial, as well as boosting the immune system and helping control blood sugar levels. It's also believed to help in blood circulation and considered to be a natural aphrodisiac.

​

There are many types of cinnamon. The two most common are Ceylon and Cassia. Ceylon is milder and sweeter than the stronger flavored Cassia.

Cinnamon sticks and powder, isolated on

Cinnamon contains coumarin, a chemical compound found in many spices. Regular or intense use of coumarin can create toxicity and some people are more sensitive than others. If using cinnamon as a health supplement, Ceylon is recommended. While both Cassia and Ceylon cinnamons contain coumarin, Cassia contains 1% while Ceylon contains only trace amounts at .004% or less.

​

Cinnamon can be used on plants for cuttings and sprinkled on soil to control pests and fungi.
